The model incorporates an effective age function encoding the impact of interventions after each event occurrence, the effect of accumulating event occurrences, a link function for possibly time-dependent covariates, and optional gamma frailties to induce dependence among inter-event times. It also fits the extension for cancer relapses of González et al. (2005) . Estimation is performed by profile likelihood, with an expectation-maximization algorithm for the frailty model, and the package provides descriptive, diagnostic and predictive tools for the fitted models. authors: - family-names: Pelegri-Siso given-names: Dolors email: dolors.pelegri@isglobal.org orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5993-3003 - family-names: González given-names: Juan R. email: juanr.gonzalez@isglobal.org - family-names: Slate given-names: Elizabeth H. - family-names: Peña given-names: Edsel A. preferred-citation: type: generic title: Models for recurrent events in reliability and survival analysis authors: - family-names: Peña given-names: Edsel A. - family-names: Hollander given-names: Myles collection-title: 'Mathematical Reliability: An Expository Perspective' collection-type: collection section: '6' publisher: name: Kluwer Academic Publishers year: '2004' start: '105' end: '123' repository: https://isglobal-brge.r-universe.dev repository-code: https://github.com/isglobal-brge/gcmrec commit: 0b9ce4bc4c44ae4c3429f3d39d5467f62f28c085 url: https://github.com/isglobal-brge/gcmrec date-released: '2026-08-31' contact: - family-names: Pelegri-Siso given-names: Dolors email: dolors.pelegri@isglobal.org orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5993-3003 references: - type: article title: Modelling intervention effects after cancer relapses authors: - family-names: González given-names: Juan R. - family-names: Peña given-names: Edsel A. - family-names: Slate given-names: Elizabeth H. journal: Statistics in Medicine volume: '24' issue: '24' year: '2005' doi: 10.1002/sim.2410 start: '3959' end: '3975' - type: manual title: 'gcmrec: General Class of Models for Recurrent Event Data' authors: - family-names: Pelegri-Siso given-names: Dolors - family-names: González given-names: Juan R. - family-names: Slate given-names: Elizabeth H. - family-names: Peña given-names: Edsel A. year: '2026' notes: R package version 2.0.0 url: https://github.com/isglobal-brge/gcmrec
